Dry Fish Pickle/ Achar Recipe in Kerala Style :

Fry Fish Pickle / Karuvaddu Achar is a spicy and extremely tasty dry fish pickle for all the pickle lovers. Let's see with step bu step pictures....
Dry fish Pickle

Ingredients:


  1. Dry Fish / Sardine fish/ Karuvaddu - 1 cup
  2. Garlic - 10 pcs ( smashed)
  3. Green chilly - 1p pcs
  4. Ginger garlic paste - 1tsp
  5. Tamarind paste - 2tsp
  6. Vinegar - 3/4 cup
  7. Mustard seeds - 1tsp
  8. Few curry leaves
  9. Salt to Taste
  10. Oil as required




For Dry Roast and Grind:


  1. Red chilly - 10 nos
  2. Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 tsp
  3. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp

Note:


  • Store in an airtight container when it cool down completely. Use it after at least 2 weeks for the flavors to set in. Refrigerate if you want to keep it for long.

Method:

Take all the Ingredients

For Dry Roasting 

Dry roast the Ingredients

Make it into a coarse powder

Heat oil in a pan

And shallow fry the dry fish 

Keep it aside


Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, garlic and green chilles , saute it for few sec

Add ginger garlic paste saute till raw smell goes

Add the tamarind paste



Add the red chilly powder and dry roast powder

Add some water , allow to boil for 5min

Add fried dry fish to the mixture , let's boil for 2min

Add some Vinegar 

allow it to boil, switch off the flame
Dry Fish pickle is ready.
