South Indian Tomato Rasam Recipe :

Rasam or Chaaru or saaru is a south Indian Soup, which is eaten with rice, traditionally prepared using tamarind juice as a base, with the addition of tomatoes and other spices ad seasoning..

Simple Tomato Rasam

Ingredients :


  1. Tomatoes - 3
  2. Tamarind pulp- 1/4 cup
  3. Garlic cloves - 4 
  4. Red chilly - 2
  5. Rasam Powder - 2tsp
  6. Asafoetida - 1/4tsp
  7. Mustard seeds - 1/2tsp
  8. Few curry leaves
  9. Few corionder leaves
  10. Salt to Taste
  11. Oil - 1 tsp

Method:

Take all the Ingredients

Make a tomato and tamarind into a puree

Crush the garlic cloves

Heat oil in a kadai, add the mustard seeds, when its crackle,add the urad dal, garlic, asafoetida and curry leaves

Add the rasam powder

Saute it for 30 sec

Add the tomato and tamarind juice and add 1 cup of water and salt

Once itsstarts boil

Turn off the flame and add some coriander leaves

Serve with plain rice
