Vadagam Onion Chutney Recipe :

Easy and tasty vadagam onion chutney..It well goes with idly and dosa...Let's see step by step pictures....

Vadagam Onion Chutney 
Cooking Time : 10 mins
Cuisine : South Indian

Ingredients :

  1. Vadagam - 1 tsp 
  2. Small onions - 15 - 20 
  3. Red chilly - 2
  4. Tamarind paste - 1/2 tsp
  5. Salt to taste 
  6. Oil - 1 tsp

Note :
  • Don't add too much vadagam, it will give bitter taste.

Method :

  1. I used homemade vadagam, you can buy it in any super market.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add vadagam and fry for a min in low flame.
  3. Then add red chilies, saute it for few sec.
  4. Now add the small onions, saute it till golden brown.
  5. Add tamarind and fry for another 1 min and turn off the flame.
  6. Cool down completely and grind it with salt and little water to a semi paste.
  7. Serve with Idly / Dosa. while serving you can also add gingelly oil.....
