Kadamba Chutney - கதம்ப சட்னி - Mixed Chutney Recipe :

“Kadambam” means mixture. This Kadamba Chutney can be prepared with different combinations of many ingredients.Simple and tasty side dish(Indian dip)for Idly and dosa.

Ingredients:

  1. Small Onion / shallots - 15 - 20 
  2. Coconut - 1/2 cup
  3. Channa dal / Kadalai Paruppu - 1 tbsp
  4. Tomato -  2 
  5. Garlic cloves - 2
  6. Ginger - 1 small pc
  7. Green chilly - 2
  8. Red chilly - 2
  9. Coriander leaves - one hand ful
  10. Curry leaves - one hand ful
  11. Oil - 2 tsp
  12. Salt to taste 

To Temper:

  1. Oil - 2 tsp
  2. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  3. Urad dal - 1/4 tsp
  4. Asafoetida/ Hing - a pinch 
  5. Few curry leaves

Method:

  1. Take all your ingredients.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, roast the channa dal for few seconds, then add all the ingredients one by one and saute it well till all cooked.
  3. Cool down the mixture completely.
  4. In a blender, put all the mixture with some salt.grind it with little water.
  5. Heat oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds, once its splutter add the urad dal, asofoetida and curry leaves.transfer it the chutney and mix it well.
  6. Serve with Idly / dosa.
