Nandu Soup / Crab Soup - Nandu Rasam Recipe :

Ingredients :

  1. Crab / nandu - 1/2 kg
  2. Coriander leaves - 1/4 cup
  3. Curry leaves - 1/4 cup 
  4. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Oil - 1.5 tsp

For Grinding:


  1. Tomato - 2 medium size
  2. Pepper corns - 1.5 tbsp
  3. Jeera - 1 tbsp
  4. Shallots - 10 - 15
  5. Curry leaves - 10 
  6. Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
  7. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  8. Coriander seeds - 1 tsp
  9. Garlic cloves - 3

Method :

  1. In a blender grind everything giver under " for grinding" in a semi fine paste and sat aside.
  2. Marinate the crab with turmeric powder for 20 mins.
  3. Break the leg pieces using a pestle or cleaned stone and set aside.
  4. Heat oil in a pan, add the crushed crab leg pieces  and masals paste with 5 cups of water.
  5. Add enough salt and  mix everything.let it boil for 10 - 15 mins and cover with the lid.
  6. Then add the fresh curry leaves and chopped coriander leaves and boil for amother 5 mins.
  7. Once soup cooked Turn off the flame and serve hot.
  8. You can store this soup for 2 - 3 days in refrigerator.before serving re-heat the soup and enjoy.
